Kawale Police is keeping in custody an 18-year-old man, Lesitala Kamwendo, on suspicion of involvement in a series of burglary cases in Area 23, Masambabise and Tambalare locations.
Kawale Police Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Precious Mabvuto Phiri, said the suspect, a resident of Area 23, was arrested by Area 23 police officers following complaints from several victims reporting house breaking and theft incidents.
Phiri said detectives instituted investigations based on the reports and identified the suspect, leading to his arrest on January 15, 2026.

“Following his arrest, police recovered assorted items including one HP laptop computer, a grinder, a torch and some clothes,” said Phiri.
The suspect will be taken to court upon completion of paperwork. Meanwhile, three registered cases and other related cases linked to the suspect are expected to be concluded in due course.
Kamwendo hails from Masambabise Village, Traditional Authority Tsabango, in Lilongwe District.
