Three arrested for allegedly murdering brother in-law in Mangochi

Police in Mangochi are keeping in custody three people for allegedly murdering their 87-year-old brother-in-law, Shaibu Adam, over family disputes contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code.

According to Mangochi Police Station spokesperson, Amina Tepani Daudi, the deceased, who was a widower, was living at his late wife’s compound despite passing years ago and this led to quarrels between him and his in-laws, who wanted him to return to his home village.

“On the afternoon of July 8, 2023, the victim’s son was surprised not to find his father at home and he later discovered that the back door was widely open and his late father’s body lying in a pool of blood.

“The matter was reported to Namwera Police Post and upon reaching the scene, the police found the victim with multiple stab wounds, a deep cut on the neck, with both eyes removed,” said Tepani.
