In a bid to alleviate scheduling conflicts and enhance fan engagement, Uzimu Vibes Awards has announced a new date for its 2025 ceremony, February 22. This strategic move aims to provide artists and fans with ample time to plan and participate.
According to Charles Donaciano Gusto, Uzimu Vibes Communications Manager, the change was prompted by the overwhelming success of the 2023 inaugural ceremony.
“We observed that most awards ceremonies happen in the last two months of the year, causing pressure on fans and artists. By moving to February, we ensure a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for all stakeholders, allowing fans to fully focus on celebrating their favorite artists,” Gusto said.
He said the key objectives for the 2025 ceremony remain unchanged: celebrating artists’ talents, providing a platform for upcoming artists, and honoring long-serving gospel music icons.
“We want to recognize and reward excellence in gospel music,” Gusto emphasized.
The ceremony will maintain its commitment to transparency, with nominees selected through public voting and expert panel input.
Gospel artist Joshua Blessings Bendabenda, popularly known as TACT, welcomed the rescheduling.
“It’s good that they have rescheduled the event; it will give artists more time to continue showcasing their art,” TACT said.
TACT, who won Best New Male Artist of the Year in 2023, praised Uzimu Vibes Awards for recognizing and supporting Christian artists.
“Uzimu Vibes made me feel that my work is valued. It was a powerful motivator for me to continue making music for people,” he said.
TACT expects the 2025 event to surpass previous successes. “I expect this event to be greater in 2025 than the last one. It will be a success for both artists and the Uzimu Vibes Firm,” he added.
Logistically, nominations will open on December 15, 2024, and close on January 15, 2025. The voting process will commence immediately after, running for at least a month. Voting will be conducted online through a dedicated website, with Airtel and TNM partnering to facilitate secure and efficient voting.
Uzimu Vibes has allocated a budget of 10 million Malawi Kwacha for the 2025 ceremony, ensuring a well-organized and memorable event. The organization will engage fans through social media, incorporating feedback from previous events.
“Our fans are integral to the ceremony’s success,” Gusto noted.
Furthermore, the organization welcomes partnerships with companies, organizations, and individuals supporting gospel music. With the new date and enhanced planning, Uzimu Vibes Awards 2025 promises to be an unforgettable celebration of gospel music talent.
