One of the group’s founding members, Anjiru Hadgi, has said this today, 25 May 2024 after the group undertook a cleaning exercise at the station’s premises. Hadgi said the group decided to do this as part of its corporate social responsibility.

“We are the community and we know that being the community, we cannot stand on our own because there are times when we need the police or indeed, the police needs us too. In fact, we also do this type of exercise in other institutions such as hospitals as well as schools,” she said.

On his part, Community Policing Coordinator at the station, Inspector Graciano Chirombo, hailed the gesture describing it as a sign of good partnership between the law enforcers and community members. Chirombo then promised that police would do everything possible to sustain this partnership by among others, serving the people professionally.

He then asked other people to emulate the gesture saying good partnership is crucial in policing.

“The coming of this group means a good partnership between Kanengo Police Station and community members and the love for safety in their area. I would like to assure people here that we are committed to serving them to their expectation by among others, responding to their call,” he said.

For many years now, the group has been closely working with the law enforcers on various issues including raising crime prevention awareness.
