The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) has called on Malawians to dispel fears and misconceptions surrounding the Malawi Electoral Commission’s (MEC) use of electronic systems in the upcoming general elections scheduled for 16 September.
CCJP National Coordinator Lewis Msiyadungu emphasized the importance of building public trust in MEC, stating that the commission has confirmed it will utilize both electronic and manual methods to transmit election results from district centers to the main tally center to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
Msiyadungu reassured the public that CCJP will be actively monitoring the entire electoral process to uphold principles of transparency and accountability.
This reassurance comes amid growing concerns from various stakeholders who have been advocating for a solely manual approach to managing the electoral process, citing fears of electronic manipulation.
