Chakwera appoints Mayamiko Nkoloma as new MEC member
Nkoloma is Chief Executive Officer for iMoSyS, a leading technology company in Malawi, and he has been instrumental in developing Internet of Things (IoT) applications and software solutions.
President Lazarus Chakwera has appointment Mayamiko Steven Nkoloma as new member of the Malawi Electoral Commission, (MEC) effective July 24, 2025.
The appointment, recommended by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), aligns with Section 75(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi and Section 4(1) of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act (Cap. 2:03), as outlined in a statement signed by Colleen Zamba, Secretary to the President and Cabinet.

According to a statement posted on DPP official page, Nkoloma is Chief Executive Officer for iMoSyS, a leading technology company in Malawi, and he has been instrumental in developing Internet of Things (IoT) applications and software solutions.
“Nkoloma is also a Lecturer in Telecommunications at MUBAS, pursuing a PhD in innovation and development. His academic credentials include an MSc in wireless communication from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a Master of Technology degree in advanced information technology from the International Institute of Information and Technology (IIT) in Pune, India, in addition to a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Malawi Polytechnic,” reads parts of the statement.
