TNM Super League leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Civil Service United on Saturday at Civo Stadium, handing archrivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers a golden opportunity to climb to the summit if they beat Ekhaya FC on Sunday.
A late header from captain Moses Banda in the 87th minute sealed a dramatic win for Civil at Civo Stadium, capping off a spirited performance by the Lilongwe-based outfit.

The Servants opened the scoring five minutes into the second half through John Dambuleni, who capitalised on Bullets’ failure to clear their lines in a crowded box.
But the joy was short-lived, just two minutes after being introduced, substitute Ephraim Kondowe levelled for the visitors in the 57th minute, finishing off a neat move with composure.
With both sides pushing for a winner, the match appeared destined for a draw until Blessings Malinda delivered a pinpoint corner that was met by Banda’s towering header, leaving goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba with no chance and Bullets stunned.

Bullets head coach Peter Mponda admitted after the match that his side had been outplayed in key moments.
“I’m disappointed with how we played today. We didn’t dictate the pace, we were too relaxed, and we lacked the hunger to fight for the ball. Civil were tactically better and deserved to win,” said Mponda.
Meanwhile, Civil coach Abbas Makawa praised his charges but acknowledged that wastefulness in front of goal remains a concern.
“We created a lot of chances, and with better finishing, we could have scored three or four. But the boys did well and gave everything to win this match.”
The loss leaves Bullets with 27 points from 11 matches, one ahead of Wanderers, who have a game in hand.
Civil move up to 11th place with 13 points from the same number of games.
