Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsanje South Constituency, Thomson Kamangira, is under the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigations over alleged abuse of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) during his tenure.
The probe comes barely days afterhis party supporters asked Kamangira to withdraw from the parliamentary race following revelations that he killed a person in a car crash.
The former lawmaker, who is also the National Director for Operations for the former governing party, killed the man on the stretch between Mangochi – Monkey Road while he was returning from Page House to see former president Peter Mutharika.

Kamangira is alleged to have refused to render support to the bereaved family let alone compensate it for the loss of life.
But in a turn of events, the ACB has now pounced on the once-again aspiring MP, this time on allegations that he abused development funds for his constituency.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Constituency Governor, Bakali Zaina, confirmed the development in an interview on Wednesday, citing Rurwe Health Centre as one of the facilities whose funds he abused.
“Yes I was informed about investigations launched against Kamangira. The investigators came to Rurwe Mission Hospital where they conducted interviews that form part of their probe,” said Zaina.
“And we don’t know how it will end. Of course, voters will be best judges, but honestly speaking, this does not give us a good picture about the person who intends to run for the parliamentary seat,” he stressed, fearing the investigation will aggravate Kamangira’s campaign and chances to reclaim his most-sought-after parliamentary seat.
Both ACB spokesperson Egrita Ndala and Kamangira could not be reached for a comment.
