MP Nyondo, three councilors in Chitipa join DPP

DPP Vice President for the Northern Region, Jappie Mhango, has hailed Chitipa Central MP Fiskani Banert Nyondo’s decision to join the ruling party, describing it as a step towards uniting efforts to drive development in the district and the nation.

Fiskani Banert Nyondo, who won as an independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Chitipa Central Constituency in the September 16 general elections has joined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

DPP Vice President for the Northern Region, Jappie Mtuwa Mhango, welcomed Nyondo and three independent ward councilors from Chitipa at the party’s office in Mzuzu.

Nyondo said he wants to serve his area in partnership with DPP because the people chose him as well as the party’s leader, Professor Peter Mutharika as president hence it is proper that they work together to develop the country.

“The people of Chitipa voted for President Peter Mutharika and I am just following what people of the district said that we should work with the current government hence my decision to join DPP.

“I have joined the ruling party so that we can help each other in constructing Ilomba-Chitipa Road and Chitipa-Nthalire-Nyika-Rumphi Road,” Nyondo said.

On his part, Mhango applauded Nyondo and the three ward councilors for joining DPP to assist government in bringing development in their areas.

“We welcome you to the mighty party, DPP. This is the biggest party in the country and you have made the right decision to join us. Let’s work together to develop this country,” Mhango said.

The councillors are Lawrence Given Kitha, Gunda Phiri, and Giwez Munkhondya, who also won as independent councilors in the wards of Yamba, Kalenge and Songwe respectively.
