In his remarks, Chimwendo Banda emphasized on the need to increase the capacity of the stadium, saying Zomba, as a city, a capacity of 5, 000 was smaller.

The minister said this is why the government decided to increase the capacity to 20, 000.

“I am impressed with the progress and quality of the work so far. And the contractor has not left the place since last time we visited, but they have been on the ground and implementing the project. And I am sure that by December, the first phase will be done,” said the minister.
